June 2nd in Rome, we celebrate Italian Republic Day

June 2nd we celebrate Italian Republic Day, the day which remembers the national referendum of 1946 when the Italian population decided to become a Republic.

Traditionally to mark the occasion, a military parade marches down Via dei Fori Imperiali (Rome) each year with all branches of Italy's armed forces represented.

It's a great celebration that culminates with a colorful airshow over the historic center when the Frecce Tricocolori, a team of 10 pilots in fighter planes, paint the sky in green, white, and red, the color of the Italian flag.
